Cupping

“I’ve done it before meets, pretty much every meet I go to,” Michael Phelps said. “So I asked for a little cupping yesterday because I was sore and the trainer hit me pretty hard and left a couple of bruises.”

What is cupping?

Therapeutic cupping uses negative pressure, rather than compressing the tissues for a better for affective result to eliminate toxins, and loosening the tissue. Suction Cup therapy is a traditional treatment that provides a safe comfortable and very effective results to the client it has been around for thousands of years. Although cupping can be used for aggressive problems such as scar tissue from surgery or injury, plantar fasciitis, IT band tension and pain however it can also be used in a very gentle way for lymph drainage, on the face or all over relaxation and increase circulation.

There are several different types of cupping however I will only be applying a few. Suction cupping using silicone cups that are easy and comfortable to move around the entire body is great for breaking down scar tissue, increase all over blood flow and help to detox the blood and remove excess lymph from the system. The Cupping massage also works great for digestive problems to loosen excess toxins and waste that may be trapped in the intestines. The negative pressure techniques helps to loosen up the tissues around the bowels and activate movement in the villa inside, helping them to absorb more nutrients and eliminate more toxins. BioMagnetics cupping is great for pain related issues that are combines with every day pain such as arthritis, repetitive strain injuries or general very tight/stiff joints and muscles. This also great for hip and leg pain, there are contraindications for this type because of the magnets, it cannot be used on someone with a lot of metal in the area or a pacemaker. Facial rejuvenation cupping helps with sinusitis, TMJ dysfunction, swelling in the face, excess wrinkles, and uneven skin surfaces. The secondary benefit to facial rejuvenation cupping is it breaks up any adhesions in the dermal layers causing sagging, drooping, deep wrinkles, jowls, and increase collagen to the skin and lips giving a desired look to the face. (These treatments are most affective in a 12 treatment series then followed up by maintenance to keep desired benefits.) Cupping can be used on the entire body from head to toe, many people wouldn’t consider cupping to be an affective plantar fasciitis treatments however it is one of the most effective treatments for breaking down scar tissue and relieving the inflammation in a less invasive way.

This is just a brief summary of the type of cupping I am able to provide, for more information, please check out www.cuppingtherapy.org
